As an experiment James Kemp is running a Themself giveaway using the new e-book giveaway service on Goodreads. This is only available to people with Kindles registered with Amazon.com so do please share it with people you know living in North America. Also apologies for not making the Themself giveaway available in the UK. If you want an e-book version leave James a comment before 21 March on his blog post about the Themself giveaway.
100 e-book copies of Themself are available between now and the 21st March for Amazon.com users using the link above (or the button below).
Themself is a collection of contemporary fiction, poetry and life writing reflecting on James Kemp’s life experiences as a part-time student, father, cub scout leader, school governor and full-time project manager in his forties.
As well as the stories and poetry he wrote there is commentary on how and why they were written. He shares notes on how to build worlds, create characters, tell stories, write poetry and fiction. There are also some writing exercises for you to try yourself if you feel inspired by Themself!
The main stories in Themself are:
- Night Patrol – a tense night on patrol with the British Army
- Rounds – a young midwife solves a problem by helping several others
- Refusal – an immigration officer deals with a visitor who is more than she claims
- Hunting Nazis – two former SOE agents settle some unfinished business in 1953 Berlin.
